Specialist Paediatric Dietitian Job Summary
This post will provide specialist nutrition and dietetic service for children, with specialist medical nutritional needs. The post is a great opportunity to work with the community paediatric services. This includes, community nurses, school nurses, GPs and consultants. The post holder would be responsible for MDT clinics for children on home enteral feeding, mostly in outpatient settings. This would be a mix between schools and Croydon University Hospital, and occasional home visits.
The post holder will be assigned to deliver paediatric general outpatient clinics and will have opportunities to train in allergy service and share inpatient caseload as required. The department has a robust dietetic student training programme. Along with the band 7 paediatric allergy dietitian and band 6 dietitian, the post holder would be in a unique position to provide pre-registration dietitians with this highly valuable experience in paediatrics. Current registration as Dietitian with HCPC
Post graduate training in paediatric Dietetics
Desirable
Member of the British Dietetic Association (BDA) Obesity Specialist Group

To be responsible for the development and provision of an effective, specialist, evidence based dietetic service for children and young people in Croydon, with nutritional concerns.
To develop and update protocols for children and young people on enteral feeding including guidelines on blended diets.
Service development, including update and develop resources and policies pertinent to role.
To provide a high-quality specialist dietetic service to paediatric out-patients referred by the GP, consultants or health professionals.
To provide and oversee provision of high standard dietetic care to children on home enteral feeding, in the community.
To work closely and collaboratively with dietitians within the Trust.
To be responsive and effective in managing communications with parents, nurses, consultants and other agencies, including specialist hospitals, related to children under the care of dietetic service.
Provide ongoing support to parents and carers of children under care of the dietitian, mostly via emails and telephone calls.
To provide a high-quality specialist dietetic service / cover to, children with autism, allergy, faltering growth seen in general outpatient clinic.
To share ward cover for children during acute admissions, when required.
To actively participate in dietetic student training.
To fulfil any other duties delegated by the Professional, Operational & Clinical Lead for Dietetics

Managerial and Administration, Education and Training, Audit and Research duties.
To receive regular clinical professional supervision from the Head of Dietetics and where appropriate, supervision will be in place from other senior professional paediatric colleagues.
To be constant and consistent in evaluation of own practice.
To take responsibility for self-development on a continuous basis, undertaking on-the-job training and other training as required.
To observe the Policies and Procedures of the Department of Nutrition and Dietetics, and Croydon Health Services.
To always act in a professional manner and to present a professional appearance.
To be registered with and to always work within the professional Code of Practice stipulated by the Health and Care Professions Council.
To attend and contribute to the Department of Nutrition and Dietetic meetings for Continuous Professional Development.
To keep up-to-date records of all patients seen and return monthly collated statistics to fulfil the Department’s information requirements.
To participate fully in the organisation’s appraisal system through portfolio-based assessment, in line with national legislation.
